Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me… – Ezek 29:17

Ezekiel constantly recorded not only what God said, but also when God said it. There was a reason for this. Ezekiel wanted to be able to look back and compare his prophecy with historical events. In other words, he wanted proof that what he “heard from God” actually happened!

Ezekiel is giving us a key to building relationship with God. Takes notes when and where you hear from God. Then, test what you “heard.” When you think you hear something from God, does it happen? Can you look back at the day and time you heard it and judge whether or not what you heard was really from Him?

If what you think you “hear” in prayer never actually comes to pass, maybe it’s time to revise your methods of hearing from God. But if you see God fulfill His word, you can have confidence that you’re hearing from Him!

Prayer:

Father, help me to test my hearing! Make me diligent in recording – in detail – what You speak to me. I believe I am hearing from You; and I am going to prove it, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. – Heb 11:17-19

Abraham’s obedience opened the door to so much more. Abraham could have clung to the promise. He could have refused to offer up his son Isaac to God! But he didn’t. He freely gave, because he knew Isaac was a gift from God. He freely gave, because he knew Isaac belonged to God anyway! He freely gave, because he knew God was able to raise him from the dead! And because Abraham trusted God like never before, God blessed him like never before.

Don’t cling so tightly to the promise of God that you forget about the God of the promise. Don’t worship the answer to your prayers; worship the God who answers your prayers! Give Him your hopes, plans, and dreams. Trust Him with everything you have! When He knows He has your trust, He will know you can be trusted.

Prayer:

Father, I want to trust You today: now more than ever before! You are perfect, and I am far from it; but You are holy, and I am in You! Thank You for the gift of Your love, in Jesus’ name.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them.” – Ezek 25:1-2

Ezekiel’s proclamation was the first step in the enemy’s defeat. Said another way: Ezekiel’s prophecy was the first step in Israel’s victory! When God’s servant prophesied, the will of God was as good as done.

You don’t fight physical enemies like the Ammonites; but you have a spiritual adversary, the devil. Set your face against Satan, and prophesy against him! The moment you lift up your voice, he is as good as defeated. The moment you prophesy, your victory is as good as won!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the power of proclamation. I will proclaim Your word over my life; and I know that as I do, everything You have promised will come to pass!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, …let us draw near… – Heb 10:19, 20, 22

Under the Old Covenant, the “veil” was a physical barrier that separated God’s people from His presence:

And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy. – Ex 26:33

Only one man – the high priest – was allowed to go behind the veil, and enter the presence of God, once per year. The rest of God’s people were shut out!

But under the New Covenant, the “veil” is the body of Jesus. It is His flesh (Heb 10:22)! If you believe in Jesus, you have access to the presence of God. All of God’s people now have access to His presence through Jesus. If you believe in Jesus, you may! Not only that: you have “boldness to enter” (v 19) God’s presence: any time, and anywhere.

Jesus died to purchase you access into God’s presence. Are you experiencing everything He died for you to have?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for access to Your presence – anytime, and anywhere! I pray I would never be too proud to enter into Your presence. I need You! I need You every hour of every day. Give me boldness to enter into Your presence: by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. – Ezek 22:30

Your prayers matter. God would have held back destruction if even one man would have stood in the gap and prayed! But no one did; so destruction came. What a travesty when salvation doesn’t come to a city because no one was willing to pray!

Your prayers matter. When you pray, you “make a wall” (v 30) of protection around the subject of your prayers. Pray for your city! Pray for your home. Pray for your family! You can prevent destruction with your prayers! If you don’t stand in the gap, who will?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for hearing my prayers. I am just a man; yet You – the God of the universe – listen to me! Thank You for hearing me, every day, in Jesus’ name.

Day 313: Gaining God’s Approval

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come… Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. – Heb 9:11-12

All throughout Israel’s history, only one man was allowed in God’s presence (see v 7). Once per year, the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place to make an offering to God. Nobody else was allowed in!

But the blood of Jesus changed all that. By His blood, Jesus purchased access to the presence of God for all believers: “Once for all!”

If Jesus already bought it, you no longer have to earn it. You don’t have to “do anything” to make God love you more. You don’t have to “do anything” to earn access to His presence. He already loves you more than you could ever imagine! You are forgiven because of the Cross of Jesus Christ. You have access to the very presence of God by His blood! You are alive, and have been set free, in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank You for making a way into Your presence: an offer that never expires, and a door that never closes! I choose Jesus, in Jesus’ name.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? – Ezek 18:31

God has already given you a new heart and a new spirit; but you still have to “get them” for yourself! You have to reach out and receive everything Jesus died for you to have. He has already made salvation available; but you need to reach out and take it!

Why wouldn’t you receive salvation if you know it’s available? Why wouldn’t you receive Jesus as Lord over your life, along with the new heart and new spirit He is willing to freely give you? Why would you die, when Jesus offers you eternal life?!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the Cross of Jesus Christ! I choose Jesus. I choose life! Why wouldn’t I, in Jesus’ name?

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.” – Ezek 16:60

You are not perfect (neither am I)! You’ve made some mistakes (I have too)! Nevertheless, God loves you. Nevertheless, He gave His only Son for you. Nevertheless, He will never love you any less.

God remembers His Covenant with you. He will not go back on His Word. He will not change His mind about you! 2,000 years ago, He decided that He would give everything to have you back. And do you know what? He doesn’t regret it!

There is nothing you can do to make God love you less. He has already separated you from your sin, as far as the east is from the west (Ps 103:12)! You are His son! You are His daughter! And He is always willing to show You His relentless love: only more, never less.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your perfect love! Thank You that no matter what I do, You never love me less! I am confident of Your love this morning, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him… – Heb 7:25

Jesus didn’t just save part of you; He saved all of you. He saved you “to the uttermost!” That means He saved you completely, perfectly, and totally: no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you’ve done.

Aren’t you glad salvation covers every nook and cranny? Aren’t you happy there is no corner of your life God’s grace can’t reach? Aren’t you ecstatic there is no enemy you will ever face that will stand in the presence of God?

Jesus already saved every single part of you, from every struggle you’ve ever faced! There is no obstacle you could encounter that His grace will not cover. There is no mountain you could face that His power will not move. Jesus saved you; and He did it on purpose, because He loves you!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for saving me! Thank You for saving me to the uttermost: inside and out, to the glory of God. I pray I would live my life as a reflection of Your glory, in Jesus’ name.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done,” says the Lord God.’ ” – Ezek 12:28

Sometimes God’s word comes to pass right away! Other times, it is postponed.

Jeremiah’s participation shortened the postponement. The way to hasten the word God has spoken over your life is to participate! Mix your faith with God’s Word! Go out and do what He has called you to do! Say what He has called you to say. As you get on board, the promise will unfold, in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:

Father, give me supernatural courage to participate in Your plan! I submit to Your will right now, in the name of Jesus. I am so excited for Your word to unfold over my life, in Jesus’ name!
