Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

…of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred… – 1 Chron 12:32

The sons of Issachar understood the times. They had received revelation from God as to what they should do to in the specific day and age in which they lived. God is willing to give you the same capability!

Jesus Christ died for your sins: past, present and future. That means when you repent and give your life to Him, all your sins are washed away! He took on the punishment you deserve, so that you can inherit the righteousness only He deserves! We live in a time period in which Scripture gives us freedom to interact openly with God. Hebrews 4:16 says that we should, “…come boldly before the throne of grace.” When we make our requests made known to God, He listens!

We live in an age of unprecedented communication between God and man. Angels long to interact with God through the lens of forgiveness that only we can fully understand (1 Peter 1:12). We know the depth of our sin, yet God has forgiven us all the same! He invites us to hear His thoughts and plans, and to go out and act on them in His name!

Understand the times. When you realize everything Jesus has done for you, you will freely give Him your whole heart. And when you do, you will know exactly what you ought to do.

Prayer:

Father, help me to serve You! I know the purpose of my life is to serve You without fear (Lk 1:74). Jesus’ death on the Cross means I no longer have to be afraid: of anything in this world, or of meeting You face to face! Thank you for the position of grace, mercy and favor You have given me, in Jesus’ name!
